Biological Microscopes

The purpose of a microscope is to see objects undetectable to the naked eye by means of an enlarged image. Biological microscopes are employed by scientists for research purposes, students for study, or even hobbyists, and at Sherwoods we have a comprehensive range of high quality biological microscopes from trusted manufacturers.

Microscopes from Sherwoods

At Sherwoods we bring you an extensive range of professional and student microscopes. The Zenith and Bresser microscopes we stock are highly regarded and recommended, and whether for personal, student or industry use, we have biological microscopes and microscope slides to suit all purposes.

Bresser microscopes

Bresser microscopes are developed specifically for the purposes of research. Bresser microscopes have a modern, stylish design, and their high grade optics make these biological microscopes popular for study and professional purposes. Our laboratory research Bresser microscopes include the Bresser Bino Researcher, which comes with course fine focus control, alignment aid and a built in dimmer. We also have the Bresser Duolux, which combines an incident light microscope with a transmission microscope, and comes with USB and software to deliver images to your laptop or PC.

Bresser student microscopes

Bresser microscopes also supply a selection of student microscopes. The Bresser Erudite DLX is portable and comes with a rechargeable battery, making it ideal for field study. Other student microscopes from Bresser include the Bresser Biorit, a complete package suitable for advanced student use, and excellent value for money.

Zenith microscopes

Zenith microscopes have spent over 35 years developing biological microscopes for education, medical and laboratory study. Zenith microscopes are highly regarded in the industry, promising quality and value. Best known for their student microscopes, Zenith microscopes are extremely popular for primary, middle school, GCSE and A-level use.

Zenith student microscopes

Zenith microscopes come with anti-tamper safety features to avoid disrupted settings, which can be a risk when being used by a number of students throughout the day. The Zenith T 70 series are purpose built student microscopes that have a robust construction and high optical quality, making them ideal for school use. Zenith microscopes have also developed the ATM-400 series for GSCE, and the Zenith Ultra 400M and 400L advanced student microscopes for A-level biology. On the other side of the scale, the Zenith SCM-200 junior microscope is perfect for primary and middle education.

Microscope slides

Microscope slides are used to hold examination samples placed under the focal lens. Microscope slides are a flat piece of glass, usually about 1mm thick. Once specimens are mounted on to microscope slides, they can be inserted individually under the microscope for careful examination, where they are held in place using slide clips. Sometimes a smaller, thinner cover slip is placed over the specimen to keep it secure.
