If you’re after astronomical telescopes then you can look forward to years of star gazing enjoyment, and if you make the right choice you’ll be more than happy with your purchase. The only problem, particularly for those new to the astronomy field, will be knowing what to look for in these items. So just what features should you be looking for in astronomical telescopes?
The first thing should always be the magnification. It makes sense to go fortelescopes that can offer an incredibly high level of magnification, as the more powerful the telescope the more detail you’ll be able to see in the night’s sky. This is often closely related to the clarity and the refraction that you’ll need, so always go for the highest performance product you can afford.
This brings us nicely onto another point – price. It isn’t always the precise features of the telescope you’ll need to consider but the practical features as well, and price will often be a deciding factor. But, whilst budget is important so is quality, so never go for astronomical telescopes that are of poor quality just to save some cash as this will invariably leave you disappointed.
However, if you really want to make the right decision you’re going to need some expert advice to help. The whole field of astronomical telescopes can seem very confusing to the novice astronomer, so if you need a bit of help make sure to come to us here at Sherwoods and we’ll be able to point you in the right direction.
You don’t need to have a vast knowledge of birds to enjoy watching them. It doesn’t matter if you’re watching small birds in your garden, or large birds of prey in the countryside, they are fascinating, and you can make it an even more interesting and enjoyable by choosing the right kind of bird watching binoculars to help you identify the species. It’s a natural progression to go from enjoying watching a bird hopping about in your garden to wondering what type of bird it is. If you flip through the pages of a bird book you’ll see there are many different species in Britain and more than 10,000 worldwide. If your interest in bird watching has grown from simply watching them from your window and you want to get more involved you can either go it alone, and once you have the right kind of bird watching binoculars, you will be all set to enjoy the birds in their natural habitat, or you can get involved with local bird watching groups and learn from the more experienced members.
It may seem daunting at first – particularly given the number of species in Britain alone – but you will soon be able to identify any bird you come across, especially if you have a good set of bird watching binoculars. Sherwoods Photographic have a great range of binoculars and other optical equipment, including all kinds of telescopes, so have a look at their website and you’re sure to find what you need, and at a great price.
If you’re thinking of buying astronomical telescopes, then you’ve made a great decision. They can bring the night’s sky closer than ever before, letting you see images you can only dream of. But, if you’re new to the field of astronomy you could well be wondering where you‘ll be able to find telescopes of this nature, but there are plenty of places where you can go to buy them.
For a lot of people, heading to the high street would be the first port of call. This is great if you know of a store near you that sells telescopes, but what if you don’t? You could be wandering around for hours without any success, and that’s why it’s often best to start your search online.
If you head online you’ll not only be able to find out if there are any local telescope stores near you, but you’ll also be able to indulge in a spot of online shopping if there aren’t. This can be ideal for a lot of people, as it gives them the chance to shop at a time and place that’s convenient for them. You’ll also be able to find reviews and recommendations of the astronomical telescopes themselves as well as the individual stores, so the internet can go a long way to helping you make the right decision.

There’s something almost magical about the night’s sky. Gazing up into the stars can seemingly transport you into a different world, and you’re sure to be amazed by the sights that greet you. If you want to enjoy it at its best it’s essential you find the right astronomical telescopes to suit, and if you choose your model wisely you can look forward to years of enjoyment.
Astronomical telescopes work much in the same way as normal ones, by gathering and focusing light from distant objects and magnifying them so they’re visible. The only difference will be that they’re a lot more powerful, and they’ll need to be if you want to see the stars.
You should always be looking for astronomical telescopes that are more high-performance than their regular counterparts, as the only way to see the night’s sky clearly is to have the highest level of clarity and magnification possible. You want to be able to see the stars in minute detail, so going for quality products should always be at the top of your agenda.
But, if you really want to see the night’s sky at its best, you’re going to need to know where to find these astronomical telescopes. If you want those that are of the highest quality possible then make sure to come to us here at Sherwoods, as with such a fantastic range we’re confident that you’ll never need to look anywhere else. We can even help you to decide which telescopes will suit your needs and your price range, so come to us and get ready to be amazed by the night’s sky.
There are a number of reasons why you might want to invest in telescopes. Maybe you’re a bird watcher, an astronomer or are just interested in the world around you, but whatever your reasons you’re going to need the right telescopes to suit your needs, budgets and preferences.
To find the right telescopes for you, you’re going to need to decide what you actually want to use them for. If you need them to watch the night’s sky then you’ll be looking for different features than if you wanted them for bird watching, for example, so always think about your individual requirements before you start looking.
You need to think about your budget as well, and that’s often closely linked to the quality and performance that you’re looking for. You always want to go for the highest quality you can, but if you’re after ultra-high powered telescopes then you’ll probably be able to spend a bit more than if you were just getting into the area.
All that’s left to do is to start searching! There are a number of places you could go to find the ultimate telescopes, and heading online will often be able to present you with the best choice. But, if you want to find the best options around, why not come to us here at Sherwoods? We have the makes, models and price ranges to suit just about everyone, so no matter what you’re looking for we’re confident you’ll be able to find it here.
Everyone knows Sir Patrick Moore. Even those of us who have never even thought about using Astronomical Telescopes are aware of him, which is hardly surprising as Sir Patrick has been appearing on our television screens for more than fifty years, as the host of the Sky at Night and as a celebrity in his own right. His fame has lead him from the world of telescopes to the mainstream, and even now at the age of 87 he still fronts the Sky at Night.
Sir Patrick’s love of astronomy and astronomical telescopes was sparked at age of six when he read a book titled ‘The Story of the Solar System’. Sir Patrick said recently that from the moment he began reading it he knew that his future lay in telescopes and the study of the solar system. His specialist field is the moon, and he is credited with discovering the Mare Orientale, or Eastern Sea, on the lunar surface. It was clear that when it came to using astronomical telescopes he knew exactly what he was doing, even though he has never had professional training in astronomy. His self taught expertise lead to him being consulted by NASA who wanted his help on mapping the lunar surface prior to the Apollo missions.
If you are inspired by Sir Patrick Moore and want to learn more about the solar system, have a look at the Sherwoods Photographic Limited website. They stock a wide range of astronomical telescopes, binoculars and other optical equipment at great prices to suit your pocket.
Astronomy has grown in popularity over the last twenty years or so, and amateur groups have sprung up all over the country. It’s a great way to look at the stars and other heavenly constellations. If you are thinking about joining an astronomy group but you don’t have any experience other than looking at the stars through binoculars or telescopes at home, don’t worry that you will feel intimidated by the expertise as these astronomy groups always welcome new members, but you might have to be prepared to travel some distance from your home if you live in an urban area.
One of the problems astronomers face, whether they are amateurs or professionals, is light pollution from towns and cities. This is why those who use astronomical telescopes will often travel many miles from their home to rural locations in order to make the most of the night sky. Taken to the extreme example, this is the reason why Mauna Kea in Hawaii was chosen as the location for the Keck Astronomical telescopes. Hawaii is in the middle of the pacific ocean, and as the Astronomical telescopes of Keck are situated at the summit of Mauna Kea, there is little or no light pollution there.
You don’t have to travel to Hawaii to enjoy the night sky, but it may be worth your while to look at Sherwood Photographics website. They have a great range of telescopes and other optical equipment such as binoculars at prices that will surprise you.
