Night vision products open up a whole new world by allowing hunters, wildlife observers, game spotters and those carrying out any type of surveillance work to operate around the clock. Binoculars with a nocturnal operational capacity allow the observation of animals such as bats and foxes, which are not usually spotted in daylight, as well as the sometimes strange and exciting behaviours of other animals that reserve their most secret behaviours for the midnight hour.
Of course, for hunters, night vision products such as binoculars and scopes allow for an extra layer of camouflage and challenge as they pit their stealth and skills against the highly developed senses of animals that, unlike humans, are almost as comfortable in the dark as in daylight. Even if hunting is not to your taste, spotting game such as deer, which are naturally sensitive and difficult to observe at close hand, during the night time, is a unique and privileged experience.
Don’t forget that as well as binoculars and scopes, we have automatic nocturnal photographic cameras and video cameras which can capture and record the most amazing images of animal nocturnal behaviour. Fantastic firms such as Yukon, Newton, and Pulsar offer amazing monoculars, binoculars, goggles and gun sights which utilise digital night vision technology and are surprisingly affordable. The images which these amazing products make viewable are crisp and clear, with none of the blurred and obscure imagery sometimes associated with the early days of nascent night vision technology. For expert advice on all nocturnal vision products, please contact one of our expert advisers now.
The night skies have fascinated human beings since the dawn of time, and have been the inspiration for thousands of scientific and philosophical treatises as well as for countless breathtaking works of art. Astronomy has now become a scientific pastime which attracts many amateur enthusiasts as well as professional experts.
At Sherwood’s Photographic, we have been supplying binoculars and astronomical telescopes to stargazers for over sixty-five years, and we continue to supply customers with the latest innovative cutting edge products. Although astronomical binoculars may lack the magnifying power of astronomical telescopes, they are still powerful enough to clearly reveal some of the most interesting and awe-inspiring heavenly bodies and astronomical objects.
Our selection of binoculars for astronomy includes products from legendary manufacturers such as Celestron, Opticron, Helios and Ostara. Of course, some of our flagship products are our astronomical telescopes from Bresser, Celestron, Meade, Tal and Skywatcher.
We also have a great choice of beautiful brass library telescopes which look stylish and stunning but are fully functional as they have height quality fully coated optics. The Skywatcher range is fully endorsed by legendary astronomer Sir Patrick Moore and makes skygazing affordable to everyone.
If you are completely new to astronomy, we can also offer literature on how to make the best start in your pursuit, such as the excellent Stargazing for Beginners. Astronomy is a fascinating and enjoyable pastime which can be enjoyed by all age groups and there is always something novel to discover in the night skies. Take the first step to a rewarding new hobby with www.sherwoods-photographic.com.

However, our comprehensive product selection also includes practical items such as magnifying glasses for crosswords and philately, board games for delightful evenings around the hearth and microscopes for amateur biologists and school children.
We also stock tough and durable marine binoculars from magnificent manufacturers such as Steiner and Opticron, which are tested to destruction in order to ensure that they can cope admirably with life on the ocean waves.
Furthermore, we have a great range of equipment such as tripods and clamps, laser rangefinders, portable radios, bird boxes, thermometers and personal weather stations. Spypoint, Brinno, and Prostalk also manufacture a lovely range of nature cameras, some with video capacity, which can be set up permanently or semi-permanently in your garden or wooded area in order to capture magical imagery of night time creatures.

Understanding the plethora of wildlife in our own back yards can be a little difficult, particularly when said beasties primarily show themselves at night. Our collection of night vision devices range from budget-price general observation (the Yukon Patrol 2×4 is lightweight, compact, durable, water resistant and great for both open field and long distance viewing) to professional night vision binoculars such as the Digital NV Ranger Pro 5×42 (boasting the likes of video output, bright exposure resistance, self contained and external power supply).
Here are a few furry neighbours to keep watch for on these long UK nights!
The badger is an incredibly shy animal, mostly living in family groups or packs. Although they’re less active in the colder months, by January/February many females are pregnant, making the daily forage for food more important than ever.
Poor foxes suffered a lot of bad press during 2010. Glimpsing a family of foxes is incredibly rewarding. If you have to time to hide out and with your night vision binoculars on the lookout for a female and some kits – it’s a must!
During colder months, the hungry barn owl will venture out for food during daylight hours. Although dusk and immediately after is generally the best time to spot them.
At least a quarter of the UK’s mammal population is made up of the eighteen species of bat that live and breed in the UK. Check out the Bat Conservation Trust to find local bat watching groups in your area.
